The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatment is a non-invasive unique technology that includes two solutions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ non-ablative skin resurfacing, so that both skin tone and texture can be treated at the same session.
The Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatment works with your skin to stimulate deep collagen regeneration over a sequence of treatments. The result is a visible smoothening of the affected stretch mark area and an improvement in the discoloration.
Already after the first session, you may begin to notice improvement. Typically, 3-5 sessions in 2-6 weeks intervals are needed to obtain optimal results. However, you may continue to see improvements for up to six months following the treatment.
Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness or swelling, depending on your customised treatment settings. The swelling will usually diminish after a few hours and the redness as quickly as the next day or over the next few days. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities the very same day. Typically you should stay out of direct sun for a few days and to apply regular suncream.
Photofractional™ technology – By using both IPL and ResurFX™ technologies, both skin pigmentation and texture can be treated at the same session. Lumenis® IPL technology removes unwanted pigment & vessels from the skin, while the ResurFX™ fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers of the skin. Stimulating new collagen production is the key to a smoother looking skin.
You start with fruit acid peel, which is specifically designed to work alongside medical grade IPL technology. So, in affect it’s a treatment that is designed to give you multifaceted benefits; brightening and illuminating the skin to create a flawless appearance. As well as deeply hydrating and giving you a more youthful glow. The Tri-Fruit Peel containing Glycolic Acid, Malic Acid, Tartaric Acid and Salicylic Acid, prepares the skin perfectly to receive the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) enabling better penetration of the light, facilitating increased target (skin discolouration) take up.
You may experience some tingling as the peel is applied and some heat from the IPL & ResurFX components but overall, the treatment is relatively comfortable and perfectly manageable. Minimal downtime is necessary, and this is the perfect preparation for either a special event or just to maintain bright, glowing illuminescent skin. A course of treatments will always give optimal results; however, standalone treatments are still highly beneficial.
To ensure utmost comfort, you will be offered a topical numbing cream before treatment. Depending on the area being treated, you can expect the session to last 30-60 minutes. You may experience a warm or prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable.
At Brewood Skin & Wellness Clinic we offer a consultation prior to your Photofractional with IPL treatment giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to allow Sarah to fully explain the treatment to you, whilst assessing for any possible contraindications. A patch test will be required prior to the commencement of treatment to assess clinical indicators. From this appointment, your first treatment appointment can be booked if you wish to proceed.
A course of treatment is recommended initially, followed by maintenance treatments as required.
As part of your consultation, Sarah will also assess your skin in-depth using the OBSERV® 520 Skin Analysis camera, allowing a better understanding of what is happening just underneath the skin surface. This serves not only as a good tool to plan treatment, but it enables us to have a starting point to refer to, allowing more reliable treatment reviews. Also, at consultation Sarah offers food intolerance testing, these can be especially helpful when tackling stubborn skin concerns like acne or Rosacea, along with many other health issues.
It is during the consultation that Sarah will prescribe an effective skin health journey to you, including everything from homecare regimes, nutritional supplements and in clinic treatments as appropriate.
